Narrative and Genre Unit: Magnificent 7

On Wednesday we learnt about the "Magnificent 7". The "Magnificent 7" comes from Christopher Booker who argues that all stories can be broken down into 7 main plots: Tragedy, Comedy, Overcoming the monster, Voyage and return, Quest, Rags to Riches and Rebirth. I looked through these different plots and tried to find which one is the one most linked to "Death Note" but I then realised that "Death Note" falls into two different categories. The plot of "Death Note" is both Quest and Rebirth. The Quest in "Death Note" is Light Yagami's vision of justice and how he goes about achieving it and the Rebirth is how at the start of the film he starts off as a Law student who abides by the rules to someone who kills criminals because the world is "unclean" and breaks the law becoming someone totally different to who he is in the end.
